Does a Wolf Induction Cooktop Work in a Power Outage?
The answer
No. An induction zone heats the pan through a magnetic field made from household electricity, so with the power out in Redmond the cooktop is simply off. When the power returns, Wolf's current models wake up locked: touch and hold Lock for three seconds. If it stays dark or unresponsive after that, call Redmond Wolf Repair, (425) 905-2822.

While the power is out
With the supply gone, an induction top has no way to heat anything. If your kitchen also has a Wolf gas cooktop, Wolf’s gas cooktop guide says its surface burners can be lit by hand during an outage: turn the knob to HI, then light the burner with a multi-purpose lighter. If you smell gas, light nothing.
When the power comes back
Wolf’s current induction and electric cooktops return to lock mode after an outage, just as they do at first power-up, so a lit lock symbol over silent controls means nothing more than that. The older CT guide lists an outage among the reasons a cooktop will not operate, next to a tripped breaker or a blown fuse, so look at the panel before anything else.
